DEPUTY MANAGING DIRECTOR

Full-Time – Edinburgh/Remote – Competitive salary £39,500
The Role

As the deputy managing director at Primal Space, you will play a vital role in steering the daily operations of our dynamic digital agency working alongside our Director. This full-time, remote position is for an experienced leader who can successfully navigate client engagement, service delivery, and team management within their day to day operations.

If you are a strategic thinker, possess exceptional communication skills, and have a proven track record in the digital landscape, we want you on our team. As a deputy managing director, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment while increasing efficiency, meeting established quarterly metrics, and growing the business by looking for new opportunities. As well as maintaining and expanding our client relationships.

This role is an exciting and rare opportunity to drive the performance of an established digital agency. The ideal candidate should be an inspirational leader, who is enthusiastic and can connect positively with both team members and clients.

The role has career progression opportunities to eventually take full control of the running of the agency. This is a junior role initially with a period of learning involved in shadowing the director. For this reason, team management and experience as a client account manager are essential.

Responsibilities

We’ve outlined some of the key responsibilities to give you a flavour of what your days might look like within the role. These include but are not limited to;

  • Responsible for the day to day management of the agency’s team and operations reporting to the Director.
  • Driving the agency, converting new business and managing existing client relationships.
  • Staff management and development – getting the most out of the existing team and supporting future hires.
  • Engage with existing clients frequently to strengthen relationships and address needs. As part of your role, you will act as a client account manager for all of our key clients.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell digital services that align with clients’ business goals. Work proactively to anticipate client needs and provide strategic recommendations, working alongside our senior sales manager.
  • Stay informed about the latest digital trends and technologies allowing our agency to continually innovate.
  • Independently manage your time to ensure timely response to client inquiries and efficient handling of tasks. Prioritise and organise work effectively to meet both client and company objectives.
  • Experienced in recruiting and interviewing and able to identify future key hires to support our agency’s growth plans.
Experience

Due to the nature of this role and the progression opportunities available, experience is important. Our ideal candidate has experience in the following areas;

  • Agency expertise in a business development and/or sales management role
  • Proven ability to make a professional and positive impression with senior management within potential client organisations
  • Successful track record presenting concepts/programs for clients and new business opportunities
  • Team leadership experience
  • Proven track record in project management
  • Possess a solid understanding of WordPress and Magento to offer basic support to clients and troubleshoot client issues effectively.
Ideal Candidate

Proven experience in a leadership role within a digital agency. Strong understanding of industry best practices, trends, and emerging technologies. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Previous experience in successfully managing remote teams. Results-driven mindset with a focus on client satisfaction and service excellence. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Personable and approachable demeanour with a focus on building rapport. Strong organisational and time management skills. Knowledgeable in WordPress and Magento with the ability to offer basic technical support. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a remote team. Proactive problem-solving skills.  Passionate about providing excellent results to clients.

Other Information
  • Working hours are Monday-Friday  9am – 5pm
  • Initial interview via video call
  • Home office/home desk setup is essential with access to your own PC and monitor to use for working. This is a fully remote working role, find out more about how this aligns with our company values and Green Mission.
  • We require you to live within the Scottish central belt for client meetings in Edinburgh. You must be fluent in English as this is a client facing role.
